Symptoms
- Searching your business name shows other sites but not yours
- Search Console says pages are discovered but not indexed
- The site was set to private or hidden while you built it
- Your pages have very little text on them
Why it happens
Google has to find your site, read it and decide it is worth showing. Many builders hide new sites from search engines while you work on them. That setting stays on after launch more often than you would think.
AI-written pages also tend to be short and very similar to each other. That gives Google little reason to show them over other sites.
Try this first
-
Make sure search engines are allowed
In your builder’s SEO or site settings, check that the site is not hidden from search engines. In WordPress, look under Settings, then Reading.
-
Add the site to Google Search Console
Verify your domain, then submit your sitemap. Most builders create one automatically, often at /sitemap.xml.
-
Ask Google to index your key pages
Use the URL Inspection tool on your home page and your main service pages, then click Request Indexing.
-
Give every page a real purpose
Each page should answer one clear question with real details: what you offer, where, price ranges, photos of real work, answers to common questions. Avoid pages that repeat the same text with only a city name changed.
-
Get a few real links
Set up a Google Business Profile if you serve local customers, and list your business in trusted directories for your area and industry.
When to stop and call a person
Get help if pages stay out of Google after a few weeks, if Search Console shows errors you do not understand, or if the site has many near-copy pages. Those usually need a content plan, not only settings.
Questions people ask
How long does it take to show up?
Anywhere from a few days to a few weeks for a new site. Search Console shows you what Google has found so far.
Do I need to pay for ads to show up?
No. Ads are separate. Showing up in normal results is free, it just takes the right setup and useful pages.
