Symptoms
- Sections overlap or hang off the screen on phones
- Headings are huge or tiny on mobile
- Images are cut off or stretched
- There is empty space on the right side of the page
Why it happens
Elementor AI builds layouts mostly for the desktop view. It sets sizes, padding and columns there, and often leaves the tablet and mobile settings alone.
Elementor lets you set different values for each screen size. Fixing mobile means going through each section in responsive mode and adjusting the few values that do not fit.
Try this first
-
Switch to responsive mode
In the Elementor editor, use the responsive mode switcher to view the page as a phone. Work from the top of the page down.
-
Fix fixed widths and heights
Containers with fixed pixel widths or heights cause most overflow. Change them to percentages or auto on mobile.
-
Set mobile font sizes
Set heading sizes for mobile in the site settings typography, so you do not have to fix every heading one by one.
-
Reduce padding and gaps
Large desktop padding eats up a phone screen. Lower padding, margins and gaps in the mobile settings.
-
Find the element that overflows
If there is empty space on the right, one element is wider than the screen. Check rotated items, big images and elements with negative margins. As a last step, this CSS hides the overflow while you look for the cause:
html, body { overflow-x: hidden; }
When to stop and call a person
Get a developer if many templates need fixing, or if the layouts are so heavy that rebuilding a few key templates is faster than patching them. That also tends to fix speed at the same time.
Questions people ask
Should I hide elements on mobile?
Sometimes, for purely decorative items. Do not hide important content, because Google mostly looks at the mobile version.
Can I add my own breakpoints?
Yes, Elementor lets you add custom breakpoints in the site settings if the default ones do not fit your design.
