  3. Measure before and after

Sites made with AI builders often look light and load heavy. The reasons are almost always the same, and so is the order that gives you the most speed for the least effort.

Why AI-built sites get heavy

  • Large images picked for looks, not size
  • Many nested sections and widgets for simple layouts
  • Extra plugins or apps added for one small effect
  • Animations, sliders and background videos on the first screen
  • Several fonts and font weights

Fix them in this order

1. Images

Resize to the size shown on screen and use WebP. This alone often cuts page weight in half.

2. The first screen

Replace a slider or video at the top with one good image. Visitors judge speed by how fast the top of the page appears.

3. Plugins and apps

Remove anything used for a single small effect. Every plugin adds code to every page.

4. Caching

Turn on page caching through a plugin or your host. On WordPress this is usually a quick win.

5. Layout cleanup

Simplify the heaviest templates. Fewer sections and widgets means less code for the browser to process.

Measure before and after

Run your main pages through PageSpeed Insights before you change anything, and again after each step. Look at the mobile result.
