WebsitesWix AI

Your Wix AI site loads slowly

Your Wix site feels slow, especially on phones. Wix handles hosting for you, but heavy pages, extra apps and animations still slow it down. Here is what you can change.

  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Time: 1 to 2 hours
  • Updated October 28, 2026

Symptoms

  • The site takes a long time to show content on phones
  • PageSpeed scores are low on mobile
  • Pages jump around while loading
  • You added several Wix apps or widgets over time

Why it happens

On Wix you cannot change the server or the code, but you control what goes on each page. AI-made Wix sites often have large images, background videos, many animations and apps that load on every page.

Every one of those adds weight. Removing what does not help visitors is the biggest win.

Try this first

  1. Check the site speed report

Wix has a site speed dashboard that shows how fast real visitors load your pages. Start there, then test single pages with PageSpeed Insights.

  2. Remove apps you do not use

Go through installed Wix apps and remove the ones you no longer need. Some load on every page even when you do not see them.

  3. Lighten the first screen

The top of the page matters most. Replace background videos and big sliders with one good image, and keep animations to a minimum there.

  4. Upload images at the right size

Upload images close to the size they will be shown. Very large files still take time to process, even with Wix image optimization.

  5. Use fewer fonts

Each font family and weight is another download. Two font families are enough for most sites.

When to stop and call a person

Get help if the site stays slow after cleanup, or if you need features that keep adding weight. At some point moving to WordPress gives you more control over speed, and a specialist can tell you if that point has come.

Questions people ask

Can I improve hosting on Wix?

No, Wix manages hosting. Your levers are the content, apps and design on each page.

Will a faster site rank better?

Speed is one of many signals. More importantly, slow pages lose visitors before they ever read anything.
