Symptoms
- Hands with too many or too few fingers
- Signs, labels or screens with text that is not real words
- Objects that blend into each other or make no sense
- People who look a little too smooth or all look alike
Why it happens
Image generators are very good at the overall look and still weak at details. Hands, text, reflections and anything that should match on both sides often go wrong.
On a website, one odd image can make people doubt the rest of the page. If the image is supposed to show your product, your team or your work, it can also mislead customers.
Try this first
-
Check every image at full size
Open each image large and look at hands, faces, text, edges and backgrounds. Ask someone who has not seen it before to look too.
-
Replace images that pretend to be real
If an image shows your team, your shop, your product or a finished job, use a real photo. AI images of things that do not exist can count as misleading.
-
Fix small errors with editing
For decorative images, small mistakes can often be fixed with the editing or inpainting tools in your image generator, or in a photo editor.
-
Crop or simplify
Sometimes the easiest fix is a tighter crop that leaves out the hands or the background, or a simpler illustration instead of a fake photo.
-
Write honest alt text
Describe what the image shows in plain words. It helps people using screen readers and helps search engines understand the page.
When to stop and call a person
Get a designer or photographer involved when images carry your brand, like the home page hero, product photos or team pictures. A half day photo shoot often does more for trust than a hundred generated images.
Questions people ask
Are AI images bad for SEO?
Not by themselves. Search engines care more about whether images are relevant, load fast and have good alt text.
Can I use AI images commercially?
It depends on the tool and your plan. Check the current terms of the tool you used before you put images on a business site.
